The Sundail Bridge is my favorite Santiago Calatrava's work. It's a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge, similar to Calatrava's earlier design of the Alamillo bridge. This type of bridge couldn't balance the forces by using symmetrical system. This design requires that the spar resist the torsional forces and its foundation resist overturning.
In over to prevent destorying the cline of salmon, Santiago Calatrava use cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge. And this Sundail Bridge has a special point, it is the largest sundail of world.The Sundail Bridge gnomon's shadow is cast upon a large dial to the north of the bridge. But it only one day is correct in a year.
